Environmental Policy
The Company recognises the importance of environmental considerations and our objective is to manage our business in such a way as to minimise the effects of our Company activities on the environment. We will review our policies on product design, purchasing, manufacturing and distribution in order to achieve our objective.
In particular the following objectives will be pursued and as far as is reasonably practicable we will:
- Reduce waste and the consumption of resources (materials, fuel and energy) to a minimum.
- Reduce or eliminate the production of polluting releases to the environment.
- Design products in such a way as to minimise their environmental effects in production, use and disposal.
- Control the environmental effects of raw material sourcing.
- Control the environment effects of new developments through strategic planning.
To achieve the above we will be mindful of the following:
- Regulations covering emissions of solvents and other chemicals to air and to drains.
- Regulations on disposal of solid waste such as paper and ink to landfill.
- Use and disposal of hazardous materials, processes and products and possible replacement by 'greener' materials in production.
- Reduction of waste levels, especially of paper and boards, to a minimum.
- Ensuring paper waste is sorted and made available for recycling.
- Offering to print on, and listening to greater customer demands for recycled papers and boards.
- More efficient use of energy and fuels, using 'waste' heat where possible.
- Co-ordinating deliveries to reduce transport costs and energy.
- Recycling chemicals, using closed systems and replenishment.
- Anticipating changes in legislation, such as the need to reduce packaging as expressed in the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive.
- Environmental aspects of products or policies, such as the recyclability of printed products.
- Visual impact of the factory, noise and odours emitted.
